Action 4-12. Install high-efficiency WaterSense labeled toilets
Gray water systems are governed by California Plumbing Code as well as Marin County and local jurisdictional codes. (Under state code, gray water does not include wastewater from kitchen sinks or dishwashers, or water from toilets.) Marin Water requires certain gray water systems to be installed with new construction or with projects that require an enlarged water service.
Action 4-19. Plant native flowering species for pollinators that are naturally resistant to insect pests and drought tolerant.
Action 4-21. Replace your lawn with a drought tolerant garden.

- Marin Water: Home gardens: Let Marin Water’s water conservation experts provide a free outdoor water use consultation of your home garden. They are making in-person visits again!
- NMWD Water Smart Home Survey. They are also making in-person visits again!
- Take a water tour on the Home Water Works website through their Water Calculator. You will be asked three basic questions and then you can go on the tour through the water calculator. Or take Marin Water's Do-it-Yourself Water Survey.
