Qualified Charitable Distributions
from your IRA
You’re already taking steps to reduce your carbon footprint, you may also reduce your tax footprint while supporting Resilient Neighborhoods! These simple-to-arrange donations are income tax-free distributions from your IRA that also satisfy some or all of your Required Minimum Distributions. These distributions are not reported as taxable income on your tax returns (nor are they considered charitable deductions).
Eligibility
If you have an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) and are 70½ or older, you may be eligible to make a tax-free donation from your IRA to Resilient Neighborhoods through Sustainable Marin (our nonprofit fiscal agent).

- You must be 70½ or older when you make your donation.
- Your IRA custodian must make the distribution directly to Resilient Neighborhoods, a fiscally sponsored project of Sustainable Marin (EIN 94-3308034).
- Your qualified charitable distributions can total up to $100,000 per year.
How to setup
To make your Qualified Charitable Distribution to Resilient Neighborhoods, download our Request for charitable distribution from my Individual Retirement Account letter. Once complete, instruct your broker or IRA custodian about your giving wishes.
